Description:

Energy cooperation in northeast Asia is proceeding slowly. It is necessary to promote energy cooperation in northeast Asia further to ensure energy security of all countries in the region. In recent years, many changes have taken place in the world energy landscape, bringing new opportunities for energy cooperation in northeast Asia. Firstly, increased oil and gas production in North America has increased Russia's willingness to deepen energy cooperation with northeast Asian countries. Secondly, the low oil price in the world brings opportunities for the construction and cooperation of energy reserves in northeast Asia. Thirdly, the diversification of energy import in northeast Asia is conducive to the construction and cooperation of energy and financial markets in northeast Asia. Fourth, shale oil and gas investment cooperation will be the new content of energy cooperation in northeast Asia. In addition, China's “One Belt And One Road” initiative will also boost the energy cooperation in northeast Asian. Northeast Asian countries should rethink how to promote the energy cooperation in northeast Asian further. This paper explores and demonstrates three possible paths for promoting regional energy cooperation through multiple channels in northeast Asia.

Generally speaking, this book is of theoretical and practical significance in regional energy cooperation, regional economic cooperation and improvement of state-to-state relations. Firstly, this book provides three practical ways to promote northeast Asia energy cooperation, broadens the ideas of northeast Asia energy cooperation, enriches the content of northeast Asia energy cooperation, and improves the theoretical system of northeast Asia energy cooperation. This book provides detailed research and elaboration on the meaning, content, form and measures of each path, which will help inspire and guide thinking and decision-making at the levels of government, governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations and enterprises. Secondly, the study on the path of energy cooperation in northeast Asia expands the ideas of regional energy cooperation, enriches the content and forms of regional energy cooperation, and makes a positive contribution to improving the theory of regional energy cooperation. At the same time, these theories can be used for reference to regional energy cooperation and even international energy cooperation in other regions. Finally, the study of promoting energy cooperation in northeast Asia is conducive to accelerating the process of regional economic cooperation in northeast Asia and improving the relations between countries in northeast Asia.
